چکیده

Objectives: The emergence of carbapenem resistance in biofilm producer Gram-negative bacteria poses a substantial challenge to manage infections. This study aimed evaluate production and molecular characterization rods. Methods: Total 46 were isolated from various clinical samples, including blood, CSF, urine, sputum, saliva, tracheal secretion, pus. Following the standard guidelines for bacterial identification (CLSI), pathogens are identified. antibiotic susceptibility profile was obtained against commercially available antibiotics Amoxicillin, Amikacin, Ceftazidime, Cefepime, Imipenem, Meropenem, Gentamycin, Tobramycin, Doxycycline, Minocycline, Tazobactam, Ciprofloxacin, Levofloxacin following CLSI guidelines. Biofilm potential quantified by using 96-well flat bottom microtiter plates. Phenotypic carbapenem-resistant performed. genotypic determined OXA-23, OXA-24, OXA-51 OXA-58 gene primers. Results: strains found as Acinetobacter baumannii, Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Serratia marcescens. phenotypic drugs 95%. DNA kit polymerase chain reaction assay performed optimized identify OXA-23 (84%), OXA-24(90%), OXA-51(83%) OXA-58(80%) strains. Practical Implication: For better prompt management antimicrobial further work on genetics is required warranted produce effective enhance effect carbapenems. Conclusion: prevalence among bacilli high. OXA genes have raised concern detect carbapenemase-producing bacteria. The effect of silver nanoparticles on Gram-negative bacilli Resistant to Extended-Spectrum Β-Lactamase Enzymes

Abstract: Background and objectives: Antibiotic resistant to Antimicrobial agents is one of the most important concern in hospitals, which can lead to increased costs, treatment fails and mortality rates. The aim of this study was identification of Gram-negative bacilli resistant to extended-spectrum β-lactamase Enzymes (ESBLs) and determination of the effect of silver nanoparticles on the...

Detection of Metallo-Beta-lactamase Production in Rare Carbapenem-Resistant Non-fermentative Gram-Negative Bacilli Isolated in a Tertiary Care Hospital, Visakhapatnam, India

Introduction: Non-fermentative Gram-negative bacilli (NFGNB) are occasionally involved in infectious diseases pathology, but have shown resistance to multiple antibiotics and the capability to gain new resistance factors in the hospital environment. The present study was aimed to investigate the antibiotic susceptibility pattern of rare NFGNB isolated from different clinical samples and the pre...

New Delhi metallo-β-lactamase and OXA-48 carbapenemases in Gram-negative bacilli isolates in Libya

To the Editor Carbapenems (i.e. ertapenem, imipenem, meropenem, and doripenem) are second line antimicrobials reserved to treat serious infections, including those caused by Gramnegative bacilli (GNB) producing extended-spectrum b-lactamses (ESBLs). ESBLs mediate resistance among GNB to b-lactam drugs, including third generation cephalosporins. Emergence of carbapenemases-producing GNB (mainly ...

Increasing Carbapenem-Resistant Gram-Negative Bacilli and Decreasing Metallo-β-Lactamase Producers over Eight Years from Korea

The trends and types of carbapenemase-producing Gram-negative bacilli were analyzed from clinical specimens collected between 2005 and 2012 at a Korean teaching hospital. The proportions of carbapenem-resistant Acinetobacter spp. increased markedly to 66%. Metallo-β-lactamase producers significantly decreased and the majority shifted from the bla(VIM-2) type to the bla(IMP-1) type.

Phenotypic detection of carbapenem-susceptible metallo-beta-lactamase-producing gram-negative bacilli in the clinical laboratory.

Rapid detection of metallo-beta-lactamase (MBL)-producing gram-negative pathogens is critical to prevent their widespread dissemination. Thus far, no standardized phenotypic method is available, and previously reported techniques have poor sensitivity for detecting carbapenem-susceptible MBL-carrying isolates, an increasingly described phenomenon. We developed a phenotypic detection method usin...
